A bunch of creative enthusiasts, from varied professions, began their journey in the early nineties with a vision to contribute towards Bengali theatre. However, due to obvious professional pressure around, we disintegrated a bit, midway, only to regroup after nearly twenty years. That is what the very name “Bachhor Koori Porey” (Twenty years after) suggests.

 

Our first production was “EBONG ANDHOKAR”, launched in August 2015. It was selected by the National School of Drama, and was presented at the 8th Theatre Olympics, in March, 2018. Our next production was “ADHORA”, launched in December, 2016. In June 2019, we staged our third production “PRIYOTAMASU”. It was staged at the 21st Bharat Rang Mahotsav of the National School of Drama, in February 2020. Of late, after being intermittently hit by the dreadful Pandemic, as everywhere around, the group could finally manage to stage their next production, another classical presentation, “ITIKAWTHA”, only recently in April, 2022.

 

BKP is a registered society with the Government of West Bengal. We have a team of 40 artists and support persons. We have staged our four plays around fifty times in various parts of the country. We do theatre workshops for students and professionals to further enhance their acting potential.
